Escualo is Spanish for "shark," a nod to Piazzolla's love of shark fishing, and the music bites accordingly: driving motor rhythms, sharp accents and the raw energy of nuevo tango. This arrangement for string quartet (two violins, viola and cello) keeps that bite intact and turns it into a concert showpiece.
Arranged by Mislav Brajković, a Vienna-based cellist who performs regularly in string quartet. The parts are written by someone who plays them.
