Annen-Polka for Violin & Cello by Johann Strauss II
Johann Strauss II wrote the Annen-Polka (Op. 117) for Vienna's St. Anne's Day festival, where it was first performed in July 1852. More than 170 years later it's still one of the most charming pieces in the Viennese repertoire: graceful, lilting and full of good humour. This arrangement for violin and cello brings that charm into a duo setting.
Arranged by Mislav Brajković, a Vienna-based cellist who performs in violin–cello duo with the Xylos Duo, including at Vienna's Musikverein. It's Strauss arranged in Strauss's own city, by a player who performs this style.
